C&L COMPLETE MAF SYSTEM FOR 2005-06 MUSTANG GT
C&L is pleased to announce ANOTHER FIRST for Mustang enthusiasts. Owners of the cool new 2005 GT Mustang will love the complete package that we have developed for these vehicles. So much more than a "cold air" kit, this is a complete system that truly addresses every aspect of improving the air intake on the all-new Mustang. As a complete throttle-body forward package, the entire factory air intake assembly is replaced with all new components. While others will try to sell a "cold air" package that consists of a cone filter and an exhaust pipe tube based mass airflow housing, only our package comes with an all-new (patent pending) cast inlet pipe and a larger CNC machined aluminum mass airflow housing. Also included in this package is a new high flow conical filter assembly, custom filter shroud that separates it from the engine compartment heat, MAF mounting bracket, mounting hardware, installation tool and instructions. Dyno testing the 2005 GT has shown that the computer is so sensitive to airflow changes that a computer modification is necessary in order to control the air/fuel ratio at the proper level. Installing this air intake assembly on a 2005 GT without any tuning will result in a leaner-than-ideal 14:1 air/fuel ratio. While certainly not lean enough to cause engine durablility concerns, it is leaner than what is desired for optimum performance. Even when replacing the air filter ONLY to a higher flow assembly, the air/fuel ratio leans out at an alarming rate. This means that any 2005 Mustang owner who is interested in modifying their new car for better performance will have to use some form of tuning, and we feel that we have found the best solution.
To make things as easy as possible for the end user, we have worked closely with Diablosport to offer a simple computer adjustment and tuning option for the 2005 Mustang GT. Available with our new air intake assembly, we are providing a special Diablosport Predator that comes pre-loaded with a specfic tune for our air intake upgrade. With this tuner, you will have the ability to not only make the adjustments necessary for the new air inlet assembly, but also control the air/fuel ratio and timing level based upon the octane quality of the fuel that you are using. Most importantly, what also makes this system superior to other options is that you have the personal capability to make further adjustments in the future to both your air/fuel and timing levels as you make other changes to your vehicle. This means that any changes that you make in the future can be easily compensated for using the tuner without the need to rely on someone else to "re-flash" your handheld tuner. This keeps you from having to rely on others to make future adjustments, and puts YOU in control!
Installing the tune from the Predator is as easy as 4 simple steps...
- Plug the tuner into the service port and select "Performance" from the main menu.
- Select "C&L MAF" from the available tunes, and then tell the programmer to install the tune. This will automatically re-flash the processor with a program that is optimized for a vehicle with our intake system and premium unleaded fuel.
- If you want to run low octane fuel, simply modify the tune by using the global spark adjuster function of the Predator. Remove 2 degrees for 91 octane and up to 5 degrees for 87-89 octane fuel as necessary.
- If you have installed a cat-back exhaust system as well, further adjustments should not be necessary. With an off-road (or high flow cat) H or X pipe installed, we recommend that you check your air/fuel ratio on a dyno to ensure that it is not leaner (numerically higher) than 13.3:1. If it is, then use the Predator tuner to add an appropriate percentage of fuel to optimize the air/fuel ratio.
Actual Horsepower dyno test of the new C&L Trueflow intake system and Predator tune on the new 2005 GT, showing a gain of 26 rear wheel HP versus the stock peak and a 30 HP gain at 6,100 RPM.
Actual Torque dyno test of the new C&L Trueflow intake system and Predator tune on the new 2005 GT, showing a gain of 22 ft/lbs of torque versus the stock peak and approximately 25 more ft/lbs from 4,000 RPM to redline."
Actual dyno test of our complete air intake assembly and Predator tune on an AUTOMATIC 2005 GT Mustang. This vehicle dropped a full one half second in the quarter mile with the installation of this package as shown in the dyno graph above.
Since the use of a tuning device is vital to upgrading these vehicles, we are offering our intake assembly two different ways. For people who are interested in having their vehicle tuned on a dyno by someone located in their area, our complete air intake system is available by itself for a suggested retail price of $389. For those who want to purchase this intake system with the new 2005 capable Diablo Predator as a combo package, they are available together for a suggested retail price of $749. If you already have another filter kit installed on your vehicle and would like to purchase our inlet pipe separately (which shows a 5-6 HP improvement with no tuning adjustmens necessary) it is available for a suggested retail price of $169, but we cannot guarantee exact filter shroud fit quality when using a shield sourced from another company. If you choose to purchase the intake system without the Predator tuner, we strongly reccomend that you have the vehicle tuned in person on the dyno by a competent shop.
